Based on an accurate modeling of Rennes Opera House, L’Opéra Immersif is a virtual reality application involving 3D graphics and 3D audio.
Spectators discover voices and instruments playing an excerpt of Carmen. Several teleportation points are available, inviting people to discover the concert from different angles, from the 3rd balcony to the orchestra pit, or even on stage next to the soloists.
Noise Makers designed the 6DoF audio engine, reproducing the acoustics of Rennes Opera House. The engine allows to render immersive sound on a VR headset (e.g., Oculus Quest) to feel the presence of musicians. L’Opéra Immersif is also freely available for smartphones on PlayStore and AppStore.
Partners : Opera de Rennes, ESI Group, PADE Design, Artefacto, Espace des Sciences, Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne.
Contribution : Noise Makers developed the application and 6DoF audio engine.
